Data Source and Calculation
The Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) produces its Urban Mobility Report (UMR) on an annual basis with a one to two year data lag. As part of their UMR report, TTI provides information for each major metropolitan area, including the Virginia Beach area, on the extra travel time that travelers spend in their cars each year due to the impact of congestion in each area. Results are presented here as Annual Hours of Delay, based on the data year from each report, and also presented to the public via the VDOT Dashboard.  For more information on TTI’s UMR program and methodologies, please visit their website at http://mobility.tamu.edu/
